Top # disturbing films.

Well, surprise, surprise, apparent 'disturbing' films are my favourite. I suppose because my constant hunger to be mortified always fails me and I never truly am satisfied, I have compiled a bit of a list of my top favourite films for those who may need help in finding a few good horror / disturbing films.
In the very brief descriptions I'm not going to give away much, so if you're interested and don't mind knowing too much about it Google or IMDB away.

Black Swan
This film is a bit of an anomaly compared to the rest, but I enjoyed it's slow-paced realistic approach to a psychological film. Plus, seeing Natalie Portman sweet AND a bit evil, great.

Inside (or A L'interieur)
Classically French, this film has a hectic twist at the very end. Me gusta.

Switchblade Romance (or Haute Tension)
Yet another great end-twist French film.

Feed
I wasn't actually TOO bothered about Feed but that's possibly because I found whoever directed it didn't do such a great job at it, storyline-wise though, I liked it a lot. Feed me.

Dans Ma Peau (or In My Skin)
Oh French, you are amazing at horror. This film I was more interested in than I led on, I think we were meant to think the lead lady in this is a nutter; well I didn't, I understood her curiosity. I will say no more lest I ruin the film for you.

Calvaire (or The Ordeal)
Crazy French film, don't trust a bearded guy who looks like a cute grey bear. He might just think you're his wife, and you may stir up a lot of negative feelings because of it; ha.

Sheitan
French, and with Vincent Cassel, need I say more?

Dead Man's Shoes
Depressingly, beautifully British.

We Need to Talk About Kevin
Thought-provoking to say the least. are the parents to blame, or are we always responsible for everything we do?

Ils (or Them)
Kids these days...

Eden Lake
Another depressingly beautifully crafted British film, with a typical British ending (I am in no way complaining, any other end to the film would have been nowhere near as good as it is)

Mum & Dad
This film is in my Top 5 most favourite films. British, gritty and dark. Such a harrowing ending.

Tesis
Also in my Top 5 Favs, a Spanish horror about snuff. This is not a film to pass-up watching. I saved my pennies to have this imported, worth every £20 note, haha.

Irreversible
French. Very unusual. Had me a little confused at first. another good'un from France!

Serbian Film
This film has ben dubbed one of the most disturbing films of all time; I hope that this is not the case as this pulls my search for good horror to an abrupt and disappointing end- that's not to say that this film isn't disturbing, because it is (brilliantly poetically(almost) disturbing, in fact). It's on the right level, but it's missing something and I don't know what. I found it highly engrossing, intriguing and very interesting to watch everything unfold. But puke-worthy and turn-it-off-after-half-an-hour-worthy? No. Chill out, people.

Martyrs
Ah, welcome back, France. This is without a doubt my most loved. This film is a reminder how terrible things can be beautiful. I love every moment of this film, not one part could be missed. It is a surreal and stomach-churning story that is not a first-time though this film, but actually based upon true religious experiments. I think it's the knowledge that what happens in this film is not fictional, this used to happen to people, that crushes this film into a dense corner of my memory to never forget it. Afterall don't you want a film to leave some variation of an impact on you? This does for me, as few films do.

Other films like these (decent horror, thriller or 'disturbing') which I've watched and could recommend are: Ricky 6, Possession of David O-Reilly, Catacombs, Audition, Henjel gwa Geuretel, Battle Royal, Orphan, Honogurai Mizu No Soko Hara, Session 9, The Eye (original), Thirst (japanese), Harry Brown, a Tale of Two Sisters, Devil's Backbone, Frontiers.

If you have anything to add to this list of films I'd be grateful!
